7 Tiny Habits

Habit #1 – Waking up at 5.30

We often know that several spiritual gurus, ayurveda and yogic sciences recommend people to get up early before sunrise (brahma-muhurtha) for it is considered to be the most productive hour of the day. Author Jaishree also talks about important it is to get up early while explaining the difficulties and the solutions to overcome the laziness to get up early. She emphasises how this tiny habit of getting up early can lead to a productive day, a disciplined life while rewarding one with extra time to pursue other habits or hobbies and offers early and better sleep at night.

Habit #2 – Meditation

In the chaos of the world, the need to calm our minds is a necessary but a difficult task indeed. The habit of practising meditation through focusing on our breath or by chanting a mantra or by focusing on our sensory experiences helps us to be mindful of our thoughts, actions and deeds. A conscious and mindful person can experience more focus, happiness, and productivity. Jaishree explains in a practical manner on how to achieve this state of mind while foreseeing the roadblocks and suggesting ways to overcome it.

Habit #3 – Journaling

In this chapter, Jaishree urges her readers to express themselves without any judgement. She further explains the need to express freely, the ideas or clarity one begets when writing in a journal, the positive outcomes one feels when they continue this habit of Journaling.

Habit #4 – Letting Go

One of the most difficult things to do is – Letting Go and accepting things as it is! In this chapter Jaishree urges us to develop this habit of ‘letting go’ by sharing a small story, by suggesting different ways to express, release the pain and finally feel empowered. This tiny habit can work wonders in reforming our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

Habit #5 – Practicing Gratitude

One of the most powerful habit to develop that can yield amazing results is by practicing gratitude. This tiny habit when practised diligently by everyone at home can lead to a calm, positive and harmonious home environment. Jaishree in this chapter explains how to express gratitude and appreciate the little acts, little things in life.

Habit #6 – Take a Break

Today, a nervous breakdown or heart-attacks have become common news amongst us. This is often because, in this fast paced world, we often forget to pause and relax our mind and body. Jaishree in this chapter compels her readers to think about the common mistake of hustling continuously and explains the importance and ways to take a break in our lives, in order to keep going in our lives.

Habit #7 – Take Time to Make Decision

Like the noodles that doesn’t cook in two minutes, a sound and wise decision cannot be taken in two minutes. In this chapter, Jaishree explains how important decision making is in life and the steps towards making a sound & wise decision that doesn’t lead to any regrets. This is again a tiny habit, but the often one which makes or breaks our personal and professional lives.
