Sand, Sunshine and Serenity

Lost in my thoughts,
Amidst thousand people,
I wandered seeking solitude.

Smiling with their eyes,
They seemed happy forever.
Loud Laughs cackled the atmosphere,
Creating a pulsating vibe.

‘Alas!’, my heart muttered heavily
Remembering the people I lost with time
Their memories buried deep within.

Some scars never show, never heal…
Never healing the pain perhaps,
Like a grey cloud
Threatning to burst open.

“A walk on the beach is all you need.” they said!
“Very Well. Indeed!” I obliged.
Afterall, a show is what you put on!

Like the sand beneath my feet,
Time slips through!
The moon illuminates the dark sky,
Carving its reflections on the waves.

The stars blink
Answering to my unspoken questions
Telling me tomorrow will be fine.

In there somewhere,
A bird calls yearning for a tomorrow,
Hoping for an abode
Or maybe another soul to join him.

A faint golden- yellow forms in the east,
Creating a mesmerizing hue of crimson & blue,
The waters cast back the glory.

Somewhere, now, the bird settles,
Into a melodious tune,
A tiny spark of something happy
Flutters within my heart.

The morning dawns,
Giving me a fresher, newer view
And, so serenity makes its way inside me.

Now, I see the bird.
Not one, but two
Gently brushing into each other,
A new today, for a better tomorrow!

For a moment an ache dulls my heart,
Wondering if there is a better tomorrow?
But the sun shines on my face
Reminding me of his power.

I smile, I laugh and I cry with joy!
For now I know,
With every slipping sand is the rising sun.
For a new today and a better tomorrow!

This is a poem written to express the griefs, grievances and the burdens that we feel constantly in our life, making us re-think our decisions and all the ‘what-if’ moments. We live in a world that lets us down constantly, making us regret our each act. Sometimes, in life all it takes is a kind word, a humble action to make one smile and feel worthy enough. But, in this life, most of us think, speak and act impulsively and unconsciously hurting and demeaning others. This poem is to remind all of us about the sunshine in our life that can be called as ‘Kindness, Gratitude and Empathy”. Let us all live in the moment, embrace the difficulties and laugh at ourselves. Afterall, as Robert Harling says, “Smile! It increases your face value.”

So Stay Happy, Stay Blessed!
Here’s to Life!

Here’s to the year 2022
For blessing us with memorable moments!

  1. Great post. A very beautiful, touching poem, that one can relate to. Reminds you of the tough times one has faced… And the hope, sunshine we look forward to…

  2. Trust me, Smile it increases your face value is my childhood quote which I always write, believe, and live for. Yes, it is important to understand what we have in our hands and be happy with what we are getting. Lovely Poem!!

  3. Not into poems as I sometimes don’t get the message of the writer but this poem is something I really understood and get the meaning. It is something most of us could relate to and where the beauty of life can be seen.

  4. Such a lovely poem with lots of hidden emotions in it. Anything that brings around the thought of ‘what if’ ‘may be’ is always curious touchy. I love your writing and how you put emotions into words.
